1 Holowczyc Windscreen
was not crazed (see Rally News 11), although it appeared to be
so; it was misting badly because it is not electrically heated.
Driver said they enjoyed today's slippery stages.
5 Tsouloftas A hard
landing near the end of SS9 caused minor panel damage to the front
of the car and to the auxiliary fan; slight overheating resulted.
Driver switched the anti-lag system off to help with the cooling.
Rear suspension changed at the Service Park before the overnight
halt.
6 Baldykov Only routine
maintenance carried out at the Nicosia Service Park.
10 Mavropoulos Retired
in SS11 with a chewed up differential.
11 Nasrallah Fitted
a new prop shaft to alleviate severe vibration. "The car
was not smooth," the driver said. They were surprised at
the number of spectators who braved the bad weather in the mountains.
12 Jeludov Had difficulty
in restarting the car in the Nicosia Service Park, so much so
that they wrecked the starter motor. The mechanics changed it
and tried to 'bump' start the car but it would not fire. They
then had to change the plugs as they were wet and the problem
was finally traced to water in the ignition module. A quick spray
of WD40 did the trick.
16 Peratikos Changed
the rear left drive shaft at the service park because it had a
split boot.
37 Tricomitis Changed
the left rear calliper at the Nicosia Service Park because it
had been locking on intermittently, causing the car to spin. The
only was to free it was to stamp on the brakes. The driver said
he could not drive at full speed as he never knew when the brakes
were going to lock.
Spectators are reminded that Cyprus does not put back the clocks to winter time this weekend.
